Tourism Product Audit and Mapping Project

WolfPeak worked with Destination Southern NSW (DSNSW) to develop an auditing approach for tourism product offerings and curated a method of assessment for them.

Tourism Product Audit and Mapping Project
The Three Sisters is one of many marvellous tourism products in New South Wales.

THE PROCESS

Our consultants led the development of a GIS-based tool to display the results of the audit and provide DSNSW with a clear picture of the geographic distribution of the offerings.

Use of the GIS tool allows for the strategic delivery of programs in southern NSW and guides investment of funds. The GIS tool has proved invaluable over the bushfire-stricken years since its implementation, as it allowed DSNSW to overlay burn areas on the GIS audit layers to understand which tourism offerings were impacted and to promote those that were still operational.

This approach far exceeded other tourism regions who were using spreadsheets of incomplete and inaccurate data. The ground-breaking nature of the project has gained interest from tourism regional bodies nationally and internationally and has subsequently led to similar projects.
